Fourth full-length album by American band Christian Death, “Atrocities” marks the beginning of a new chapter in the band’s trajectory following the departure of Rozz Williams, with Valor Kand taking on a central creative role and driving a radical shift in both sound and artistic direction.

Originally released in 1986, the album stands as an especially harsh and disturbing conceptual work, confronting some of the darkest chapters of modern history, with direct references to the experiments carried out by Josef Mengele at the Auschwitz extermination camp, shaping a raw, unsettling and deeply impactful narrative that abandons the romantic gothic tone of earlier releases in favour of something far more aggressive and confrontational.

“Atrocities” not only redefined the course of Christian Death, but also pushed the boundaries of gothic rock into more extreme and experimental territory, becoming a key work of this new era and one of the most intense and controversial albums in their discography.
