“Winds of Melancholy” marked the beginning of one of the most fascinating projects to emerge in recent years within the atmospheric black metal scene, Eternal Dissonance, a work originally released in 2020 by the band itself as its debut album and now returning under a new and dazzling winter light, completely revised and expanded, revealing with greater clarity the purest essence of that first creative impulse.
Across five addictive instrumental compositions, “Winds of Melancholy” unfolds like a winter landscape that seems to stretch endlessly into the distance, where layers of melancholic guitars slowly rise over a hypnotic pulse, sketching horizons of snow, persistent winds and a quiet solitude that embraces everything around it. Each passage breathes with patience, allowing the melodies to grow and transform as though wandering through frozen forests and memories returning from afar, a deeply introspective journey where atmospheric black metal becomes pure atmosphere, contemplation and remembrance, reaching moments of emotional intensity that feel vast, almost cinematic, yet always intimate and close. A magical work that finds its place along the same paths once travelled by names such as Drudkh, Saor, Fen, Wolves in the Throne Room or Austere, sharing with them that rare ability to turn melancholy into a living sonic landscape.
“Winds of Melancholy” now appears for the very first time in a physical edition worthy of its extraordinary musical universe, a strictly limited run of only 33 hand-numbered copies presented in an oversized 4-panel digifile, carefully handcrafted from heavyweight matte-laminated board, both robust and elegant, and also including a printed cardboard sleeve to protect the CD.
In addition, the album has been completely remixed and remastered by Dargos himself, incorporating newly recorded bass lines specially created for this edition, a process that brings greater depth, clarity and breadth to the music, allowing every detail to breathe with far more body and presence than in the original recording. This remarkable edition is completed with entirely new artwork and a digital download card including both the newly remastered version and the original 2020 mix, a small physical sanctuary that preserves and amplifies the essence of this album.
