Originally released in 1986, the album stands as an especially harsh and disturbing conceptual work, confronting some of the darkest chapters of modern history, with direct references to the experiments carried out by Josef Mengele at the Auschwitz extermination camp, shaping a raw, unsettling and deeply impactful narrative that abandons the romantic gothic tone of earlier releases in favour of something far more aggressive and confrontational.
