Description
Darkness, rawness and a deep devotion to the black metal of the nineties shape “Chants of Sublimation”, the first and only release from Cultist, the enigmatic Italian-Norwegian project featuring musicians linked to bands such as Urarv, Dauden, Darvaza, Frostmoon Eclipse or Fides Inversa, five compositions in which they masterfully combine rawness, melody and an especially cold and dark atmosphere, embracing the genre's darkest and most traditional roots while faithfully recapturing the spirit of early black metal.
Across its little over 22 minutes, “Chants of Sublimation” delivers direct and consistent black metal built around harsh guitars, genre-defining vocals, predominantly restrained rhythms and a strong melodic sense that adds depth to compositions deliberately free from any desire to experiment. This first EP offers an interesting glimpse into the rawest and most ritualistic side of black metal, highly recommended for fans of Satyricon, Immortal, Craft o Mork.
